Rough Set Based Decision Model in Information Retrieval and Filtering

In this paper, a model for information retrieval and ltering applications is proposed. The model uses rough set based decision approaches to deal with the relevance between users' queries and documents. In this model, the users' queries are described into two levels: the interesting categories, and the relevant terms about the interesting categories. By using the rough set based decision theory, the dynamic document stream is divided into three states-the positive region, the boundary regions, and the negative regions, instead of the two states in the traditional research which are relevant documents and irrelevant documents.
